Professional Excellence is No Exception
Since the day he graduated law school, J. Michael McClure has dedicated his career to injured accident victims. His passion to represent people when they are in need of legal guidance is exhibited in every client case.
One of Michael's greatest professional thrills usually comes at the end of a case. He enjoys the results of every case he works on. Seeing that justice is done, seeing a client or a family get the compensation they are due and seeing to it that a wrongdoer is held accountable for the injuries they have caused, especially when that wrongdoer is a powerful corporation or governmental agency.
"Call me Michael"
When Michael receives a new client, he feels like he has received a new member of his family. He insists that each one of his clients call him, "Michael." "I want them to be comfortable with me so that we have a high level of trust and so that I can really get to know them and their situation. After all, we're family," says Michael.
The Story of a Great American Attorney
Michael was born in Groton, Connecticut. As a child he grew up in Havre de Grace, Maryland until college where he attended the North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. Shortly after earning his B.A. from North Texas State University, Michael moved to Southern California to open the first T.G.I Friday's in Marina Del Ray. While working at T.G.I he attended the University of West Los Angeles School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1986. Michael also passed the California State Bar that same year.
Michael's Legal Accomplishments
Michael has always been a dedicated and determined individual. His compassion and outstanding work ethic has led him to win numerous cases for injured accident victims. On one occasion, he obtained a 10-0 jury verdict resulting in a $3.9 million judgement. In another case, Michael went head to head with the city over a comparative negligence matter. His brian injured client received a $7 million dollar verdict.
One of Michael's most prestigious accomplishments was when he become a member of The American Board Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an esteemed professional organization with exclusive membership limited only to the most impressive trial attorneys.
Reaching for the Stars
Mr. McClure not only uses his experience and expertise to represent the seriously injured but he also makes time to participate in pro bono work and community service. Michael was on the Bay Harbor Hospital Board of Trustees, has been a Los Angeles County Judicial Arbitrator since 1992 and was a presenter at a "Masters in Trial" presentation for The American Board of Trial Advocates.
Most recently, Michael volunteered his services to Orange County's youth by participating in UCI's semi-finals of their national mock trial competition. J. Michael McClure was the presiding judge over the mock trial which involved product defects issues, an area of immense familiarity to Michael. Through these mock trials, students are able to expand their courtroom skills and knowledge, ultimately helping them prepare to be an attorney. Michael said, "It was fun and very rewarding." It is this type of community involvement that makes Michael a unique and devoted attorney.
Supportive Husband and Animal Lover
Along with practicing law, Michael's true loves are his wife of 11 years, April, and his two dogs, Peanut (a Yorkshire-Terrier Teacup) and Bailey (a Havanese). He is a supportive husband and dog owner. Michael glows when he speaks of April and his dogs and he enthusiastically boasts about April's Sarong Company (www.shopmyties.com) and internet marketing skills to the Bisnar|Chase staff.
Michael also enjoys a good round of golf and regularly makes trips with April, Peanut and Bailey to Orange County's beautiful beaches and Balboa Island.
